Over Three-Quarters of a Million Fail to Avoid Bankruptcy

Avoid Bankruptcy

Over three-quarters of a million people were unable to avoid bankruptcy, the American Bankruptcy Institute has recently revealed in a report stating that bankruptcy filings have increased by 14 percent from January to June of this year, compared to the same half-year period of last year.

The actual figures for the period are 770,117 filings. This is a disturbing revelation, fuelled of course by the global economic crisis, but representing considerable problems for all the families involved.

“…difficult to avoid bankruptcy…”

People find it increasingly difficult to avoid bankruptcy when it is estimated that over seven million jobs have gone since the beginning of the financial crisis some two years ago.

The Great Recession did not arrive on its own. It brought with it a full array of problems and misery that is spread from one end of the country to the other.

“…fail to avoid bankruptcy too…”

Millions of families struggle to avoid foreclosure on their homes, and when they fail they sometimes fail to avoid bankruptcy too. Meanwhile, failed foreclosure programs proliferate, loan consolidation plans blossom, and many people find it impossible to avoid bankruptcy.

The year 2010 is being hailed by some experts as the year of the economic recovery. Many would not agree. Some are even seeing that instead of trying to avoid bankruptcy, they should take that route as it offers them another chance on a clean slate.

“…avoid bankruptcy, a social stigma…”

Most people try hard to avoid bankruptcy as there is still a social stigma attached to the concept. Yet, in an era of rife foreclosure and loan consolidations that often only complicate matters more, rather than avoid bankruptcy, many are warming to the idea as a way out.
